With temperatures in the 50s and 60s during the last full week of April, a student enjoys some much awaited time in the sun near Galvin Library.
Illinois Tech Facilities Operations and Maintenance workers planted 62 new trees on Mies Campus during the last week of April.
Workers are planting trees according to the designs of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Alfred Caldwell’s concept of “Campus in the Park,” which laid out a landscape plan for Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus.
Campus will be lush with the types of tree species not commonly seen in Chicago, like the yellowwood, a species native to southeastern states with warmer climates.
As finals week draws nearer, more students are taking their studying outdoors.
